Hi I'm Hali!
I'm a developmental fiction editor based in the UK, specialising in the cosy crime & mystery genre.
Picture this: a wide-eyed kid devouring the pages of the first Harry Potter book, utterly enchanted by the magic of storytelling. That was me.
As a child, nothing excited me more than Children's Book Week, when I’d eagerly hop from one teacher to another, soaking up every story being read.
By the time I got to university, my friends discovered I had a knack for taking their essays from snooze-fests to eloquent arguments. In the corporate world it was the same story. I can’t even begin to count how many requests I received to add a bit of editing magic and storytelling to emails and presentations.
I then decided to dive headfirst into the world of editing, it was time to take something I’d always loved seriously. I trained professionally as an editor and became a proud member of the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading (CIEP).
Now I get to spend my time doing what I’ve always naturally been drawn to: getting completely absorbed in stories and figuring out what makes them work.
I specialise in cosy crime and mystery because I love everything that makes these stories so warm and fun to read. The clues you almost miss, the suspects you’re absolutely convinced are guilty (until you’re not), the amateur detectives you can’t help rooting for, and of course, the satisfying moment when everything finally falls into place.

My job is to help you step back from a manuscript you’ve spent months, or perhaps even years, living inside and see it from a fresh perspective. I’ll help you understand what’s working or where something might not be working quite as you intended.
